Is Your Network Having Intermittent Issues?

Could Your Cabling Be Too Hot?

With the emergence of VoIP phones and other PoE devices, network cabling is being used in ways not originally intended. Even certified Cat 5e cabling networks can have intermittent network problems because of increased temperatures caused by PoE.

  • Large cable bundles in ceilings are now carrying additional power which can cause cables to rise over 15 degrees above typical operating temperatures.

  • Network stability is compromised when the cabling exceeds standard temperature ranges.

  • Cat 6, Cat 6e and Cat 6a cables can handle greater levels of heat allowing it to work efficiently, keeping network speeds at their highest.

  • Cat 6a (10 gig capable) cable is recommended for use with most current and upcoming PoE devices.
